Shore To Shore takes shape on the sidewalk of Emigrant Square

Paver Carlos Meneses started the placement of the molds of Shore To Shore, designed by the native Canadian artist Luke Marston, at Emigrant Square on Wednesday (April 29, 2020).

This Shore To Shore design already exists in the Portuguese Joe Memorial, at Stanley Park, in Vancouver. Joe, the Azorean pioneer from Calheta do Nesquim (Pico Island), was the first European to settle in Vancouver, and Luke Marston is one of his descendants.

With a diameter of 10 meters, Shore To Shore will now be reproduced in the center of Emigrant Square, in Ribeira Grande, around the base of the globe Saudades da Terra, conceived by Luís Silva.

The Ribeira Grande Municipality has scheduled the inauguration of Emigrant Square for Sunday, July 26, 2020.
